Israeli Business Forum together with Meitar Liquornik Geva Leshem Tal, Israel's largest international law firm, are pleased to invite you to a cocktail reception and discussion (in Hebrew) of some of the recent and most fascinating cases which have sparked heated public debate and fundamentally affected Israeli society.
The event will be led by three of Israel’s leading litigators, Adv. Dr. Israel (Reli) Leshem, Adv. Eyal Rosovsky and Adv. Nadav Weisman, who have been personally involved in these cases.
The discussion will focus on these recent cases:
- The trial of former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert
Former Prime Minister of Israel Ehud Olmert was convicted of a series of corruption-related crimes allegedly perpetrated during his term as mayor of Jerusalem and as Israel’s Minister of Trade and Industry. Eyal Rosovsky acted as one of his lead counsels in this case.
- The trial concerning the Hebron Shooting Incident
Sgt. Elor Azaria has been charged with manslaughter for the fatal shooting of a Palestinian attacker in Hebron in March 2016 after he had been neutralized by other soldiers. The soldier’s shooting was widely condemned, including by Israeli Defense Minister at the time, Moshe Ya’alon, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Nadav Weissman has acted as lead prosecutor in this case, as part of his military reserve duty.
- The case regarding executive pay in the financial services industry
The Israeli High Court of Justice rejected a petition by bankers and insurers against a controversial new law setting salary caps in the financial services sector. Supreme Court President Miriam Naor wrote in her judgment that “It is not the court’s place to rule on claims against the wisdom of the law, or its morality or whether it is just.” Reli Leshem argued this case on behalf of the Israeli Association of Banks.
